Dr Ajeenkya D Y Patil possesses a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Richmond College UK. He specialized in Marketing from London School of Economics. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Central Lancashire, UK in recognition of his work as an entrepreneur and an educationalist.

He has a natural curiosity for technology and innovation and a penchant for world-class quality. His persona reflects dynamism with compassion. It is his exemplary vision that led to the initiation of D Y Patil Knowledge City – a truly unique confluence of institutions at one place.

He is a personification of exceptional leadership ability, with an accomplished track record in articulating a compelling vision and successfully leading institutional change while responding to diverse challenges and interests. He has proven proficiency in attracting meaningful collaborations from public and private sectors at local and international levels. He has actively initiated long-term programs with leading international universities around the world.

Under his leadership the ADYPG continues to grow economically, intellectually, socially and culturally providing an academically distinctive portfolio of excellent and professionally relevant courses coupled with a high quality student experience. He is keen on creating a world-class university, which is a global provider of education, environment friendly, and spiritually oriented and D Y Patil Knowledge City is a step forward in realizing this dream.

Even at this young age, he spends more time in discharging his social responsibilities than in business, philanthropy is close to his heart. Dr Ajeenkya D Y Patil is a member of Chakrayu Foundation engaged in charities for the poor and the needy in the State of Maharashtra. Social causes close to his heart are, among others, eradication of child labour, female child education, upliftment of the physically challenged.

He is a member of Vijay Merchant Centre of the disabled. In recognition of his relentless pursuit of social cause, Professor Lord Patel of Bradford and Mrs Cherie Booth, QC, invited him to the World Water Day event in the House of Lords in March. There he announced his support to their initiatives to provide fresh potable water and clean sanitation system to people in India and Africa by instituting a special foundation for the same. He has received many recognitions and awards from leading organisations and illustrious personalities for his achievement and success in business.

On 13th February 2009 Dr Ajeenkya D Y Patil has assumed the charge of Pro- Chancellor of Padmashree Dr D Y Patil University Navi Mumbai.
